We were lucky to spend Saturday night as VIPs at the Dessa/Elixery lipstick launch at Icehouse. In addition to being breathtakingly talented, Dessa is a genuinely nice person. She saw us struggling with my camera and popped right over and said "Oh is that a G10? I had the same problem with it!" and proceeded to help us figure out what was wrong (the flash was turned WAY up, for the record, which I had no idea was a thing you could do). We got deluxe gift bags which included: a full size Dessa lipstick, samples of a few other Elixery shades and their lip scrub, 2Gingers Whiskey, Red Vines, Peace Coffee, Fashion Tape, Bodylish Natural Soap AND a ring from Angel Teske Jewelry. Seeing as the Mister doesn't tend towards a number of those products, I hit the jackpot BIG time. The Icehouse whipped up special drinks in honor of Dessa for the event which were delish and ever so charmingly matched the lipstick perfectly.
The Elixery makes a damn good lipstick- the perfect red, created from raw pigment with the proceeds going to CARE. There were incredible performances by Dessa, Aby Wolf and my lovely friend Ashley Gold (who made my boyfriend's night by agreeing to a double smooch...OK fine it made my night). All together an amazing evening, and for a good cause. If you like lipstick, or are feeling like you might want to try a bold red, I'd snap this up in an instant. AND you will be doing good when your cash goes to CARE. Buy it now!
I have very sensitive skin. Very. To the point where I just stopped washing my face at night because no matter what I used, I would wake up with a very irritated looking face. Last week, for no particular reason, I decided I had had enough. I sent out a tweet to my lovely friend Meghan of High Plains Thrifter and Elizabeth Dehn of Beauty Bets for suggestions. Elizabeth responded with lightning speed and suggested One Love Organics and Arcona LA. I decided to start with One Love Organics travel pack as a sampler. I can't remember the last time I was more pleased with a purchase. First of all, their customer service is stellar. They sent my order less than 24 hours after I placed it and sent me receipts and tracking numbers- my favorite. The best part- the products work great- my skin looks and feels rejuvenated and smooth- I was instantly thrilled! No redness, bumps are subsiding and I even feel glowy. Oh, and it all smells really good. This stuff is pricey so if you don't have endless disposable income, do what I did and try the Essentials To Go for $48- I promise you won't regret it! The application of the products is a little nontraditional, but don't fear, they have tutorials too.
Shake. Stir. Seduce. The Mad Men Collection for Estée Lauder. YES, PLEASE. I was a little disappointed when the Mad Men for Banana Republic collection came out last year- it just wasn't the retro glory I was hoping for, but my hope is again restored with this new Mad Men collab. The only have two offerings, but they are pretty exciting ones! One Lipstick ($25) in Cherry and a Creme Rouge ($40-that's blush, ya'll) in Evening Rose. I might have to buy them both for their pretty packaging alone! Get yours in time for the Mad Men season premiere this Sunday 9/8c on AMC. (BTW- if you have cable, and want to have me over to watch it I would gladly accept the invite).
